Graven Hill is situated on the outskirts of Bicester on the former Ministry of Defence (MoD) site.  The site is now owned by Cherwell District Council which formed its own development company to drive local housebuilding and create a wide range of private homebuilding opportunities. It is anticipated that the site will have up to 1,900 plots, making the project one of the largest schemes of its type in Europe.

All self-build plots at Graven Hill come with their own unique Plot Passport which sets out the rules and guidelines.  If followed, pre-approved outline planning permission is guaranteed.  Thus simplifying and speeding up the planning process.

Our client came to us with his drawings and we started the quotation process by creating a 3D image of the plans.  This immediately gave our client a clear vision of what his new home could look like.  We discussed the type of structure that would be required and how the thermal efficiency could be improved by using optional extra insulation products.

After considering the different options open to him, our client decided upon using the Kingspan TEK™ 142mm structural insulated panels system (SIPS) with an extra insulation layer of 25mm PIR TW55 on both the walls and roof to achieve a U-value of 0.15 W/m².K worst case.

Point1 Building Systems are very proud to have been part of the team that helped to create this unique, energy efficient and beautiful home on such an innovative site.
